Pilot during 2011-2012 South Elementary 2 Teachers Freshman Building 4 Teachers Senior High 6 Teachers FIP Drip Be purposeful in implementation

Be respectful of all change that is going on around teachers right now 18 FAIRFIELD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT What ideas do you (teachers) have for creating a system of implementation and monitoring of FIP across the school and/or district?

Give time for quality implementation (2-3 years) Dont throw new ideas at us and overwhelm us Use small, face to face group structure Let us work together in teams to monitor implementation in classroom and discuss evidence Start with learning targets; this would be the priority of teacher based team (TBT) meetings and/or curriculum work with new standards rollouts Take it slow (FIP Drip) -- Start with a small group of teachers in each building We need time to learn the content in the modules, collaborate with others about our learning, implement new learning, and reflect

Embed this information within curriculum work and TBT time so it doesnt seem like one more thing Spread the word through examples of success in others classrooms Administration needs to be educated and ahead of the game Important for administration to really believe this material and convey it as important and valuable to the teachers. 19 FAIRFIELD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT What are we doing now? K-4 & 5-12 Fall FIP group K-4 & 5-12 Spring FIP group Each group is approximately 15 teachers 5 half day sessions to cover each of the 5 modules Use RttT Area C funds

Administrators receiving PD during monthly administrator PD sessions 20 FAIRFIELD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT Where are we going? Solicit ideas from the teachers involved in FIP process this year Gather ideas from administrators going through modules this year Hope to roll out to entire staff next year See this as a way to connect things formative assessments, common assessments, learning targets, student involvement in the assessment process, etc.

WILMINGTON CITY SCHOOLS 27 SURVEY/SIMON SAYS During the morning session, Moodle was very slow. A lot of content to process in one time. Technology was very frustrating for many people. I'm hoping it will not have a negative impact on today's PD.

Could we work in our rooms or some place quiet? I prefer to work in a quiet environment and people talking, coming and going was distracting to me. I feel very overwhelmed with all the information today. One module would have been PLENTY! SURVEY SAYS I like the way this PD is presented. When I'm in a large group and the big screen is

used I am sooooo easily distracted, daydream, and lose focus. This eliminates distractions and makes me give all my attention to the task at hand and work at my own pace. I thought the PD today was effective and made everyone think more about the type of assessments we are using and if they are the most effective assessment to each particular learning target. I think this individual/group learning PD is very successful. It is helpful to be able to advance at my own pace individually, yet be able to have a chance to contribute and respond to my peers. Meeting together at the beginning and end with guided activities

that directly relate to our "learning targets." works well, too. Good PD. Everything was good including an hour lunch:))) Thanks CONFIRMING OUR COMMITMENT 2012, Battelle for Kids.
